There is a strong tendency to want to say far too much on a typical resume. Your resume should be direct and to the point. Every phrase and every word should be highly relevant. That is how your resume should read.

A resume will not - by itself - get you a job offer. However, without a well written resume, you face a steep uphill climb in “advertising” your qualifications to hiring managers. The good news is that once you invest the time and effort to write a good resume, you can keep it up to date with little effort. It then becomes a promotional tool you can use over and over throughout your career.

This site is named Resume Revelation for a reason. The revelation that I want you to consider is this: you should view your resume as one of the central pieces of sales literature in your campaign to sell yourself to your future employer. To put it simply, you are the product and your resume is the sales literature. The purpose of the sales literature is to arouse the interest of potential employers sufficiently to get you interviews.
