Just to make sure we are on the same page…what is a resume for, anyway? There are differing opinions, but the purpose I have seen that I am in complete agreement with is this: A resume is a tool whose primary intent is to get you the interview.
Note what it is not…It is not a document that - when pasted on every available job site - will cause you to receive job offers in your e-mail inbox. Maybe during a time of a wild hiring frenzy. This, unfortunately, is not one of those times.
No…your resume should be looked upon as your main sales tool. It should present you in a compelling enough way to get you an invitation for a face-to-face meeting with the hiring manager or executive.
If your resume does that much, it has definitely done its job.
